SpeedRead: Train Your Focus (“SpeedRead,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile application that helps users read faster and train focus using RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) technology.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use SpeedRead.
1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we may collect:

Authentication identifiers associated with Firebase Authentication
App Usage and Progress Data
To provide the core reading experience, we store:
Reading progress
Reader settings
User profile preferences
Document metadata such as file name, title, upload date, and word count
Limited usage tracking related to PDF extraction limits and cooldowns
Purchase and Subscription Data
If you subscribe to SpeedRead Pro, subscription status is managed through:

RevenueCat
We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Uploaded Documents
Free users can access built-in reading content.
SpeedRead Pro users can upload their own files, including PDF, DOCX, EPUB, and TXT documents.
Uploaded files are stored locally on your device. For PDF extraction, files may be transmitted temporarily to our backend infrastructure for text extraction. Uploaded files are not permanently stored on our servers.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
Provide and maintain the app
Authenticate users
Save reading progress and settings
Enable cross-device sync for supported account and progress data
Verify subscription entitlements
Enforce usage limits and protect backend resources from abuse
Provide customer support
Improve reliability and security
3. What We Do Not Do
We do not:
Sell your personal information
Publicly share your uploaded files
Make your uploaded documents visible to other users
Use advertising trackers in the current version of the app
4. Where Data Is Stored
We use third-party service providers to operate SpeedRead, including:
Firebase Authentication for sign-in and account management
Cloud Firestore for profile data, progress data, document metadata, and usage counters
Firebase Cloud Functions for backend processing such as PDF text extraction
RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management
Uploaded files are primarily stored on your device. Some files, such as PDFs, may be processed temporarily by our backend to extract text, but are not retained as permanent file storage.
5. Legal Basis / Purpose of Processing
We process data to:
Perform the service you request
Maintain app functionality
Enforce paid feature access
Protect the app from abuse and excessive backend costs
Comply with legal obligations when required
6. Data Retention
We retain account, progress, metadata, and subscription-related records for as long as your account remains active or as reasonably necessary to provide the service.
If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize associated data, unless retention is required by law or for legitimate security or fraud-prevention purposes.
Uploaded files stored locally on your device remain under your control.
7. User Content
You are solely responsible for the files you upload into SpeedRead. You must only upload content that you own or have the legal right to use.
SpeedRead does not publicly distribute uploaded files and does not actively monitor private user uploads.
8. Children’s Privacy
SpeedRead is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
